Douglas M. Messier – Space tourism/commercialization, space jobs, space and environmental technology synergism
Douglas Messier is a communications expert with experience in entrepreneurial startups. A skilled analyst and writer, he has broad knowledge of the aerospace, Internet, education, and environmental fields. He translates scientific and technical concepts for lay audiences and helps individuals and organizations craft their messages in print and online. He has written technical documentation, magazine and newspaper articles, movie spec scripts and TV spec scripts, and a non-fiction book.
Douglas is Managing Editor of ParabolicArc.com, a popular blog providing daily coverage of space tourism, commercialization, human spaceflight, and other key areas in humanity’s conquest of the final frontier. He is co-owner of SpaceJobs.com, the largest online career center for the aerospace, defense and aviation industries. He helped to found the Earth and Space Foundation, a non-profit that funds projects bridging the environmental and space communities.
Douglas holds a master’s degree in Science, Technology and Public Policy from The George Washington University, where he studied at the Space Policy Institute. He is a graduate of the International Space University and holds a B.A. in Journalism from Rider University.

When SpaceShipOne captured the Ansari X PRIZE in 2004, optimism abounded that space tourism would the next big wave of adventure travel. SpaceShipOne’s builder, Scaled Composites, announced a deal with Richard Branson to bring space travel to the masses – or at least those with a few hundred thousand dollars to spare.
